Shifts run between: Typical shift pattern: 07:30 -15:30 Monday - Thursday, 07:30 -15:00 Friday. 09:30 - 17:30 Monday - Thursday, 09:30 -17:00 Friday (1 week in 4). Shifts can be between the hours of 07:00 - 23:59.

Hours of work: 37 per week

Contract: Permanent

Location: Warcop Camp, Appleby in Westmorland, Cumbria, CA16 6PA 

Interviews will be held between: Wednesday 19th - Thursday 20th November


About The Role

At Landmarc, we play a vital role in maintaining and managing the Defence Training Estate (DTE), ensuring that military training areas are safe, functional, and ready for use. We’re looking for a Training Area Team Leader to coordinate a dedicated team and oversee the delivery of essential estate services.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be the first point of contact for your team, ensuring tasks are allocated effectively and standards are consistently met. You’ll help maintain the operational readiness of training facilities, liaise with stakeholders, and uphold safety and compliance across the estate.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and coordinate a team, acting as first-line manager and point of contact
  • Allocate tasks, check work quality, and ensure service delivery meets the contract
  • Oversee maintenance activities including grounds care, equipment testing, soft FM, waste services, and vegetation control
  • Ensure safe systems of work are followed, including access control, flag protocols, and incident reporting
  • Liaise with service users, military representatives, contractors, and the public to ensure smooth facility handovers and safe usage
  • Stock management
  • Operate fleet vehicles and plant machinery as required
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement

What You’ll Bring

You’re a confident leader with a practical mindset and a strong understanding of rural environments and training area operations. Your safety-conscious, proactive, and able to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in rural or outdoor environments
  • Knowledge of range assignment instructions and standing orders
  • Previous experience as a range or training area user
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Understanding health & safety practices (COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments)
  • Familiarity with estate services, grounds maintenance, and plant machinery
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development
  • Vaccinated against workplace risks (e.g. Tetanus, Polio, Hepatitis A & B)
  • Valid UK manual driving licence (essential)
