Training Area Operative

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit five Training Area Operatives to work at West Tofts (STANTA) Training Area, on the outskirts of Thetford in Norfolk.

These roles are two year fixed term contracts, to support an increase in training. You will also be required to work some weekends.

The main responsibilities of the Training Area Operative (Ranges) is to ensure that the training estate facilities and ranges are fit for purpose.

Main Responsibility

Preparing training areas for use

Preventative maintenance

Grounds maintenance

Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training will be provided)

Manufacturing and deploying targets

Housekeeping

Driving and operating fleet vehicles (training will be provided)

Warning systems including training control offices, flags and lights

Report and deal with unauthorised persons on the Training Area Estate

To liaise with all stakeholders to ensure effective training area delivery e.g. Handover / take back of facilities and or ranges with service users and completing the relevant handover documentation.  

Direct, support and advise training estate users both civilian and military

To complete all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper based systems

The Ideal Candidate

 

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a rural environment and possess the following:

 

Knowledge of Health and Safety such as COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Experience as a range/ training area user (not essential)

Experience of communicating with customers

Basic labouring, caretaking and housekeeping skills

Ability to complete documentation

Basic IT skills
