Training Area Operative - Variable Days

Job Introduction

Landmarc Support Services is currently seeking to recruit a Training Area Operative. 

As the Training Area Operative, you will play a key part in helping to maintain a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train, this pivotal role is essential to the delivery of the contract.

This role, is based on a 12 month Fixed - Term Contract. You are required to work flexibly over the course of 37 hour working week. You will be required to work weekends. 

We are looking for someone who either has previous knowledge of working on the Defence Training estate or someone who is keen to learn new skills and bring an enthusiastic willingness to learn, Landmarc will provide full training for the successful applicant.

Main Responsibility

To ensure that the Training Estate Facilities are fit for purpose.

preparing training areas for use,

preventative maintenance,

grounds maintenance,

operation and maintenance of plant and equipment,

forestry and arborical work,

manufacturing targets,

housekeeping,

equipment testing

calibrating, sustainability tasks,

driving and operating fleet vehicles

To ensure that the Training Estate Facilities adhere to safe systems of work e.g.:

control of access,

warning systems including training control offices, radar and flags,

reporting defects,

report and deal with unauthorised persons on the Training Area Estate.

To liaise with all stakeholders to ensure effective training area delivery e.g.:

handover/ take back of facilities with service users including providing information on ‘maximising’ the facility,

the Employers representatives regarding training area safety and usage,

direct and advise wider training estate users including the general public.

To complete all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper based systems.

To carry out additional works in response to additional contract requirements (Fee earning)

general maintenance,

soft fm,

stock management,

waste services,

reactive maintenance,

vegetation maintenance,

operation and maintenance of plant equipment.

The Ideal Candidate

Knowledge of Health and Safety

Knowledge of working in a rural environment.

Knowledge of range assignment instructions and range standing orders.

Experience of track and fencing maintenance.

Experience as a range/ training area user.

Experience of communicating with customers.

Work in a diverse multi-tasking mobile team environment

Basic laboring, caretaking and housekeeping skills

Rural, forestry or arborical skills.

Demonstrate proven track record of achieving objectives

Ability to operate rural plant and machinery 

Ability to complete documentation

Basic IT skills

Be vaccinated against work place risks; keep tetanus and polio vaccinations up to date, and participate in company instigated vaccination programmes where there is a recognised health risk.

Willingness to undertake training to work in high risk areas e.g. transporting dangerous loads
