Team Manager (Ranges and Training Area)

Job Introduction

Landmarc Support Services has an exciting opportunity for a Team manager to lead the multi-disciplined team that manage and maintain the Training Area, Urban Facilities, Ranges and Rural Estate at STANTA training area in Thetford, Norfolk.

lease note: There will be an Assessment Centre on the 5th March at West Tofts Camp (IP26 5EP) for this role, you will be notified within good time if you are successful in your application. 

Main Responsibility

The Team Manager will manage a team of people and be responsible for (but not limited to) managing performance, attendance, behaviour, capability, welfare, health and safety and record keeping.

Managing day to day workloads of staff and ensuring work orders, PPM’s and all range management processes are completed on time

Task allocation and work checking

Oversee the allocation and use of resources and equipment (plant, vehicles etc.)

One of the key tasks will be to make sure that the live range and dry training areas are fit for purpose and that health and safety is at the forefront of everything we do as this  key to creating a safe place for all, below is a list of day to day duties:

Record keeping (i.e. Range Safety,  HR, Health and Safety etc.)

Manage training area usage and carry out routine inspections to identify any maintenance tasks

Ensure the tasks identified, or requested, across the training estate are completed to the required standards to maintain safe systems of work and safe place to train

Assist with the management of any bought in services and contractors

Identify best practice and promote continuous improvement including environmental best practice and compliance

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the Defence Training Area and the complexities that surrounds this

Knowledge of  Health and Safety, such as CoSHH, manual handling, risk assessments and safe systems of work to IOSH Managing Safely level (Essential)

Knowledge of workload scheduling and work order processes, preferably in a multi- tasking environment (Essential)

Plant and Machinery Operation knowledge (Essential)

Knowledge of Rural, Forestry, Arboriculture and Grounds Maintenance (Desirable)

Highly developed people management skills including providing feedback (both positive and developmental) to ensure the team are motivated and engaged and working to a one team ethos (Essential)

Full Driving License (Essential)

Proficient in use of Microsoft office package – word and excel (Essential)

Works well under pressure, to a high standard

Able to deliver service to tight deadlines and appropriate quality standards

Ability to communicate clearly with people at all levels
