The Rural and Forestry department within Landmarc has a national remit and responsibility for the delivery of forestry and rural works across the business. The successful placement holder will have opportunities to focus on supporting one of the regional rural teams in the delivery of their forestry harvesting and reinvestment programme, the delivery of ash dieback works, the delivery of SSSI and conservation programmes as well as the surveying and delivery or other rural works. The successful placement holder will have access to further Landmarc and external training as well as the tools required to deliver their role. 

The priorities for 2026/2027 are to utilise these resources and to support the wide reaching programmes that our rural teams deliver.

Landmarc is currently looking for a Graduate student. This is a great opportunity for a recently graduated forester/rural person, who has undertaking a forestry or rural based qualification and wants to get a good grounding in practical forestry delivery, post education. The works are all standard forestry operations - harvesting, planting, site management and encompasses a whole site approach from initial site assessments to delivery and including health and safety and supervision. 

To ensure that the successful candidate has a holistic approach of the business they will be expected to spend some period of their placement rotating around key functions / departments and visits to other regions.


 

Hours of work: 37 per week

Start Date: Autumn 2026

Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term

Location: Wathgill Camp, Wathgill, Richmond, North Yorkshire, DL11 6AH with the expectation to travel to Otterburn Training Camp, Otterburn, Northumberland, (Newcastle-upon-Tyne) NE19 1NX, for Meetings and Site visits.

Nearest Train Station: Darlington Train Station, Princess Road, Darlington DL1 4AA

Travel Required: You will be expected to undertake a limited amount of UK travel as project needs dictate.
 

The remote nature of some of the Landmarc sites and lack of public transport means that the successful candidate will need to access to their own transport and hold a full driving licence.

The Ideal Candidate

  • A recently graduated person who has undertaken a forestry or rural related qualification
  • A practical person who is keen to experience and lead site works and be a useful member of established rural teams 
  • A willingness to research and undertake tasks as requested
  • Confident in carrying out surveying, supervision, leading site meetings, reviewing health and safety procedures
  • Good IT Skills – specification and report writing
