Rural Operative

Job Introduction

Landmarc Support Services are currently seeking for a Rural Operative to join the team at Brunswick Training Camp in Surrey.

As the Rural Operative you will be responsible for carrying out tasks across the estate, using tractors, other rural plant machinery and other rural tasks as required.

We are particularly looking for someone who has experience in operating tractors with attachments, other rural plant machinery, to carry out vegetation management, conservation mowing and assist the team with a wide range of tasks to ensure the estate is maintained to a high standard and is a safe place for our troops to train.

This role is being offered on a permanent basis, covering 37 hours a week from Monday – Friday.

Main Responsibility

Driving and operating Tractors with Mowers and Attachments, and other plant such as excavators, diggers, rollers (certificates/ qualifications required)

Mowing and vegetation management of firebreaks, conservation mowing areas, and to maintain access routes for military training

Carry out other Rural Maintenance tasks across the Estate as required- including; Forestry maintenance and tree work, track and infrastructure repairs

Adhere to safety protocols while operating machinery and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others

Good level of understanding of natural and cultural heritage designations and how this may applies to working on designated sites. An understanding of military training environments and the unique challenges these present would also be advantageous.

Routine maintenance and daily checks of Tractors and other Equipment

Secondary skills in grounds maintenance, chainsaw, brush cutter, herbicide application (certificates/ qualifications required- though training may be provided)     

Carry out any other additional tasks as required of the role

The Ideal Candidate

Experience in operating Tractors with Agricultural Attachments from a 3-point linkage

Applicants must have formal training for Tractor Driving/Operating from an accredited provider in order to be considered for shortlisting (2 years working experience desirable)

Excellent knowledge for Health & Safety, manual handling and safe systems of work

Experience and knowledge of working in the conservation and agricultural sector

Ability to work alone and as part of a team

Excellent communication skills

Good map reading and IT skills

Must hold a full valid UK driving licence (essential)
