Job Introduction

Landmarc Support Services are currently seeking for a Rural Operative to join the team at Wathgill Camp in North Yorkshire.

As the Rural Operative you will be responsible for carrying out tasks across the Rural Estate ensuring the facilities and ranges are fit for purpose, maintaining a safe, efficient and sustainable place for our Armed Forces to train, this pivotal role is essential to the delivery of the contract.

We are looking for someone who either has previous knowledge of working in a Rural Environment or someone who is keen to work outdoors and learn new skills.

This role is being offered on a permanent basis, covering 37 hours a week from Monday – Friday.

Main Responsibility

Rural Estate Maintenance Works

Stone Track repairs and maintenance

Operating a Grader and Roller to maintain tracks

Fence repairs and maintenance

Tree planting and maintenance, small scale forestry works including felling and respacing

Chainsaw work (training provided to achieve licence)

Vegetation cutting

Cold tar repairs

Dry stone wall repairs

Driving and operating fleet vehicles / plant and machinery

Use both IT and paper based systems to complete any relevant documentation

To liaise with all stakeholders to ensure effective rural estate delivery

The Ideal Candidate

Rural Estate Maintenance, practical experience in forestry or countryside/environmental management

Ability to operate plant and machinery and holds valid certificates (training can be provided for right applicant)

Knowledge of Health and Safety as well as risk assessments, manual handling, COSHH, PPE and safe systems of work

Work well as part of a team showing drive and motivation to improve the Rural Estate

Experience of communicating with customers and have good communication skills

Enthusiasm for practical work in the outdoor environment

Candidates must be physically fit

Ability to work to tight deadlines

Basic IT skills

Willingness to undertake further training

Must have a full drivers licence valid in the United Kingdom (essential)
