Job Introduction
Landmarc Support Services are currently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to support the Commercial management of Additional works / Core works delivered by the Regional Team in the North Region. The role is a permanent opportunity to be based at Wathgill Camp on the outskirts of Catterick in North Yorkshire.
This great new opportunity as a Quantity Surveyor, will work closely with our Commercial and Project teams, completing tenders and specifying works, you will work on project across the North MoD Training Estate.
Main Responsibility
- To manage the commercial and financial elements of Head Office Projects for the Head Office Project Managers
- Support the Commercial Manager – Projects, in the management of Projects around the country
- To ensure NEC3 and other commercial communications are managed effectively and maintained with the client, consultants and our Sub-contractors
- Support the delivery of the contract business plan and ensure the contract attains its objectives as cost effectively and efficiently as possible.
- Identify and support the delivery of solutions on each project to either diminish critical risk or capitalise on opportunity
- Support the implementation and management of relevant framework contracts through establishing appropriate contracts, monitoring performance and rebates e.g. Consultancy and other design related services and specialisms.
- Support the commercial processes to ensure compliance. Support the project management team in developing and implementing commercial procurement strategies to ensure projects are delivered in a cost effective and timely manner
- Manage formal pricing, including preparation of formal proposals, supply chain management, management of commercial and cost process and the cost value reconciliation (CVR) for Additional Works and Services
- To complete all relevant documentation utilising both IT and paper based systems
- Support the processes and procedures to ensure effective income stream and payment of suppliers
- Act as supply chain manager for allocated suppliers
- Attend meetings as and when required
- Liaise with all stakeholders providing technical and specialist advice, support on cost management and preparing operational reports as required.
- Support the implementation of the internal audit programme and all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient commercial management. Provide feedback on the effectiveness of business processes and recommend improvements
- Ensure compliance with the Internal Control Documents
The Ideal Candidate
HND or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Commercial management as demonstrated through proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor
Cost management processes in the construction/facilities management environment
Knowledge of management theories and techniques gained through a Level 4 qualification such as NVQ in a Business Management/People Management or equivalent and proven experience
Contract and common law
Building construction, services and statutory regulations
Knowledge of Health and Safety gained through IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent and proven experience including CDM
Rroject work and the practicalities of delivery
Risk management techniques and application to construction works
Detailed knowledge of the New Engineering Contract (NEC) forms of contract
Working knowledge of PSA Schedule of Rates

Travel around the UK sites to attend meetings and manage contracts. This will, on occasions, require staying away overnight, as distances between sites is sometimes beyond what can be travelled there and back, safely
Cost manage to best advantage the delivery of Additional Works and Services
Have proficient IT skills including MS Excel and MS Project
Produce reliable management information, reports, recommendations and coordinate information gathering by others
Ensure appropriate quality standards are adhered to
Apply planning and analysis skills
