Maintenance Technician -Targetry (Internal Applications Only)

Landmarc Support Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician (Targetry) to join our dedicated technical team supporting the UK Defence Training Estate. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment maintaining specialist equipment on live firing ranges.

You’ll be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of Targetry systems and associated firing equipment, ensuring operational readiness and safety across the estate. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, technical precision, and a strong commitment to safety protocols.


Location: West Tofts Camp, Thetford, Norfolk, IP26 5EP

Hours: 37 per week, Mon - Fri 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs on Targetry equipment across the region.
  • Plan and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all Targetry assets.
  • Manage local spare parts inventory and report shortages to the Range & Training Area Manager.
  • Provide technical support and advice on Targetry systems to site teams.
  • Maintain accurate records including work orders.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work is completed within agreed timeframes to meet performance KPIs.
  • Support asset tracking and reporting as part of the Logistics Assurance Process.
  • Liaise with Range HQ to ensure safe working practices on live firing ranges.
  • To assist with Training Area Operatives (TAO) duties as an addition to the primary role which include but are not limited to:
    • Handover/ take back of facilities with service users including providing information on ‘maximising’ the facility
    • General maintenance and Facilities management across the training estate using PPM work orders

 

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3, indentured trade apprenticeship, or Military Class 1 Trade qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices (e.g., COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments)
  • Experience working in confined spaces and awareness of asbestos safety.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and circuit diagrams.
  • Competent in strip-down and reassembly of equipment to component level.
  • Basic knowledge of UHF radio systems, computer hardware/software, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet configuration
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
